Sunset Beach Waterfront Town Park - Enjoy the View!
The park is the perfect solution when you need something to do!
Want to get away from the computer? Go to the park.
Need a place to walk the dog? A safe, scenic option is your local park.
Kids need to burn some energy?
Want to watch a sunset?
Love the farmer's market? Yep ... all this and more can be found at the park.
Sunset Beach is so lucky to have a gorgeous, 5.2 acre waterfront park of our very own. Opened for the first time in May of 2015, it's a relatively new addition to our little town. But the Sunset Beach Waterfront Town Park has added so much value by offering residents and tourists a beautiful gathering spot that will be the backdrop of our experiences for years to come.
Here's what you can do, see, and find at the Sunset Beach Town Park.
Swing the day away
The Sunset Beach park features some really unique "porch-style" swings facing the Intracoastal Waterway.
It's the perfect spot to watch kayakers, paddleboarders, boats, and the sunset.
Walk the dog
Need to walk the dog but you aren't in the mood to deal with the sand of the beach? Or you just want to enjoy the shade of the live oak trees? The Sunset Beach park has a doggy water fountain over by the restrooms and is a great choice.
Go fishing off the dock
If you have your fishing license and want to just put your hook in for fun, you can do so off the park fishing pier. Learn more about fishing in Sunset Beach by clicking here.
Shop the Farmer's Market
The Sunset Beach Summer Market runs from May through October right here at the Town Park. It is held on Thursdays from 9:00 - 1:00 (but make sure you check their website for the most current information).
There is also a Sunset Beach Holiday Market where you can find food trucks, hot chocolate, and lots of talented vendors selling unique, handmade holiday gifts. This year, the market will be held on Dec 7, 2019 from 10:00 am - 3:00pm.
Take a moment at the Veteran's Memorial
Dedicated during the November 11, 2015 Veteran's Day Ceremony, the addition of a Veteran's Memorial makes the Sunset Beach Town park special.
The Memorial was made possible through the sale of commemorative bricks that make up the Memorial. Take a moment to read them and pay your respects.
Learn more about how Sunset Beach honors its Veterans here.
Get some exercise
Go for a walk, a run, push the stroller around, or give the kids a chance to burn off some energy at the park. There are over 5 acres of well-cared for grounds to cover as well as a paved walking trail along the water.
Visit the birding observation platform
The town of Sunset Beach is part of the North Carolina Birding Trail. If birds are your thing, you can add this quick observation spot to your list. Learn more here.
Walk to a restaurant or shop
After you enjoy all the park has to offer, there are a whole bunch of little restaurants and stores within walking distance. Grab a coffee at Maverick's Java, or check out the fishing gear at Dave's Outpost. Try on some unique new clothes at Island Breeze, or learn about Sunset Beach history at the Old Bridge Historical Society museum (open Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.). Get dinner at the Boat Landing, then ice cream at How Sweet it Is. You can spend a whole day in this one-mile slice of Sunset Beach.
Come for a visit!
