About Our Vacation Rentals
Is there any chance we can check in earlier than the 4:00 pm check-in time?
Our housekeeping and maintenance teams need adequate time to prepare each home for incoming guests after the previous guests have departed. Depending on the home and the day's schedule, this preparation can take up much of the time between checkout and check-in.
During the summer season, if we have your email address on file and your home is ready significantly earlier than expected, we will send you an email letting you know that an earlier arrival may be possible.
Do I have to pay to park at my vacation rental?
No. Parking is provided at your vacation rental for a limited number of vehicles. Since parking arrangements vary by property, we recommend reviewing the individual rental listing or contacting our office if you have specific parking questions or needs.
What should I do if I have a maintenance issue upon arrival?
Our vacation homes see plenty of activity throughout the season, and our team works diligently to make sure each property is ready for your arrival. If you notice a maintenance or housekeeping issue when you check in, please notify us as soon as possible.
A maintenance request form is included in your welcome packet. Complete the form and return it to our island office so our team can address the issue and follow up with you. You can also call our office during business hours, and we’re happy to help.
For maintenance emergencies, please contact our full-service maintenance department at 910-579-9000 and press option 2. For true emergencies occurring after hours, call our emergency line at 910-367-0808.
What items should I pack for my vacation?
Vacation rentals are set up differently from traditional hotels or resorts, so you will want to bring some everyday essentials with you. We recommend packing items such as linens and towels, unless they are included with your rental; paper towels, toilet paper, kitchen trash bags, dish soap, bar soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, a hair dryer, food storage wrap, seasonings, board games, books, sunscreen, tanning lotion, medications, boogie boards, beach chairs, and a portable grill if your rental does not already provide one.
What amenities come standard in your vacation rentals?
Unless a property's individual description states otherwise, our vacation cottages generally include central heating and air conditioning, an outdoor shower, dishwasher, washer and dryer, microwave, drip coffee maker, bedspreads, mattress pads, pillows, and standard cookware and dinnerware for basic meal preparation.
Each vacation home is privately owned, so furnishings and equipment reflect the individual owner's preferences. We are unable to make changes to a home's furnishings or equipment, and these items may change without advance notice or compensation. Guests should also refrain from rearranging furniture during their stay.
If there is a particular amenity that is important to your vacation plans, please contact us, and we will be happy to help you find a property that meets your needs.
What additional amenities are offered in your selection of vacation rentals?
Some of our vacation homes feature upgraded or specialty amenities, including private pools, hot tubs, elevators, docks, golf carts, and more. Available amenities vary from home to home, so be sure to check the individual property description when planning your stay.
Do any of your rental homes provide linens?
Yes! We offer a great selection of “linen-ready” vacation homes. These properties include bath towels, kitchen towels, and bathmats at no additional charge. The beds will also be made with linens before your arrival.
Do you offer pet-friendly accommodations?
Yes! We have a wide variety of pet-friendly vacation rentals available for guests who want to bring their four-legged family members along. Most pet-friendly homes permit up to two well-behaved dogs per rental, and an additional fee applies when bringing dogs.

Is there paid beach parking on Sunset Beach?
Yes. The Town of Sunset Beach operates a Pay-to-Park program on the island from April 1 through October 31. Parking costs $5 for up to three hours or $20 for the day, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in designated parking areas. Parking is free before 9:00 am and after 5:00 pm.
Parking payments are handled through an online app and are associated with your vehicle's license plate number.
Are golf carts allowed on Sunset Beach?
Yes. Golf carts are a popular way to get around Sunset Beach while on vacation, and there are several golf cart rental companies available in the area.
Before operating a golf cart, be sure to review the local laws and golf cart ordinances so you are familiar with the applicable rules.
Are dogs allowed on the beach?
Yes, dogs are permitted on Sunset Beach. There are seasonal restrictions, however. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, dogs are not permitted on the beach between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs and disposing of pet waste in designated trash receptacles. For additional information and current regulations, visit the Town of Sunset Beach website.
I'm staying at a home with a boat dock, and I'm bringing my boat. Where can I put it in the water?
Public boat ramps are available on both Sunset Beach and nearby Ocean Isle Beach, and can be used free of charge.
The Ocean Isle Beach ramp is a larger facility located beside the Ocean Isle Fishing Center at the island-side base of the OIB bridge.
In Sunset Beach, the public ramp is located at the end of Sunset Blvd North on the mainland. From the traffic circle at the mainland side of the bridge, take the first right. Continue straight through the stop sign and past Dave's Outpost. The ramp is located across from The Boat Landing.
Do vacationers need a fishing license to enjoy the area's top fishing spots?
Anyone age 16 or older fishing along the North Carolina coast must have a valid NC Coastal Fishing License. This requirement applies to fishing from the beach as well as floating docks along canals, bays, and marshes.
If you plan to fish from the Sunset Beach public fishing pier, the pier has a commercial license that covers each fisherman. To purchase a license ahead of time or learn more about fishing regulations, visit the NC Wildlife Commission website.
Are fireworks allowed on the beach?
No. Fireworks of any kind are prohibited anywhere on the island of Sunset Beach. The community takes fire safety seriously, particularly because several fires in and around the area in recent years have been caused by carelessness involving fireworks.
Renters found in possession of fireworks will immediately lose occupancy of their rental without warning due to safety concerns and may also be subject to state prosecution. Local law enforcement and residents actively monitor for fireworks use.
What family-friendly activities are there to do in town?
Sunset Beach is conveniently located near a variety of restaurants, attractions, and activities for families. Larger towns Myrtle Beach and Wilmington are both less than an hour away by car, giving visitors plenty of options for day trips and entertainment.
Of course, you don't have to leave the island to have a great family vacation. Enjoy relaxing beach days, explore local attractions, read a book, play games on the beach, or gather together for board games in the evening.
Families may also enjoy the coastal exhibits at the Museum of Coastal Carolina in Ocean Isle Beach or the updated digital shows at Ingram Planetarium in Sunset Beach.
When is the best time of year to visit Sunset Beach?
There really isn't one single best time to visit Sunset Beach—it depends on what you want from your vacation. Spring break can be a great opportunity to enjoy the coast during the shoulder season, while summer remains a favorite for families and larger groups traveling together.
Fall is especially popular with golfers and anglers, while winter offers a quieter coastal experience that appeals to homeschool families and couples looking for peaceful beaches, excellent shelling, and stays without the crowds.
Ultimately, the best time of year to visit Sunset Beach depends on your schedule, interests, and the type of getaway you're looking for.
