What You Should Know About Our Rentals
The staff of Sunset Vacations welcomes you to its collection of vacation homes. It is our goal, as well as our owners, to make your vacation experience one that not only meets your fondest hopes, but exceeds your dreams as well. Housekeeping / Occupancy
Each home is equipped for housekeeping. Kitchens come stocked with cookware and dinnerware. Beds have mattress pads, bedspreads and pillows. You'll need to bring all paper products, soaps, staples, personal items and linens with you. Overcrowding of our units is not allowed, and should this occur, you would be subject to eviction.
Making a Reservation
Browse through the rental brochure and choose at least three homes that will suit the needs of your party. Once you have made your choices, call us on our reservation HOTLINE (1-800-331-6428) to confirm the availability of your selections and secure a tentative reservation. THE TOLL FREE SUN VACATIONS RESERVATION HOTLINE IS A DEDICATED RESERVATIONS ONLY NUMBER. Please direct all other inquiries about rentals, the area and general information to 910-579-9000.
Designate one person in your party to be responsible for all payments and correspondence regarding your reservation. After we book the rental for you, we will mail a confirmation/deposit request to you confirming your reservation. Advance rent payment equal to one half (50%) of the gross rent must be sent to Sunset Vacations within ten (10) days of receipt of deposit request. Failure to return deposit in a timely manner will result in an automatic cancellation of your reservation. An explanation of accompanying charges will be in your correspondence including, but not limited to: 6.75% North Carolina sales tax, 4% occupancy tax, 2% local sales tax, damage/cleaning deposit, a $125 reservation fee to all reservations and special charges. All reservations booked that are less then 4 nights are subject to being moved to similar accommodations.
Full Payment is due 30 days prior to arrival.
Year 2017 Reservations
Tentative reservations are taken up to a year in advance and are therefore subject to a variety of availability factors. This hold will allow you to receive your chosen week(s) should the unit be available for rent for your requested time. If we become aware that the unit will not be available, we will notify you as soon as possible. This years vacationers are given the first opportunity to re-rent their cottage for the corresponding week next year while they are here. They must re-book for the following year by the close of business on Friday of their vacation week (first Friday for multiple week stays). We'll open reservations to the public on the following Monday. The Tentative Reservation fee of $50 is required to take your selected week in the rental unit off the rental market and is non-transferable, non-refundable and DOES apply to your rent. NEW FOR 2017 Tentative Reservations: Initial Payments will be due by DECEMBER 1st. YOUR PAYMENT OF MONEY IS EVIDENCE OF YOUR AGREEMENT OF OUR TENTATIVE RESERVATION POLICY ABOVE. TO COMPLETE YOUR TENTATIVE RESERVATION REQUEST; CLICK ON YOUR DESIRED PROPERTY, THEN CLICK ON THE "BOOK NOW" BUTTON, THIS WILL DIRECT YOU THROUGH THE QUICK STEP BY STEP PROCESS.
Cancellations & Transfers
Should you need to cancel your reservation, please notify us as soon as possible. We will make every effort to re-rent the property. If we re-rent your home, all monies (less a $50.00 bookkeeping fee) will be returned within 45 days after receipt of the re-booking payment. If we are unable to re-rent the property, the full advance rent payment will be forfeited.
Check-In / Check-Out
Check-in is 3:30 pm. on Saturday (weekly rentals). At check-in you will receive two sets of keys and directions to the property. If you plan to arrive late, let us know in advance so we can make special arrangements; come by the office the next day to make your official check-in. Check-out is no later than 10:00 a.m. on your day of departure. Guest check-out duties should be completed and keys returned to our office. If you leave prior to our office opening, please leave keys in the key drop at the office.
We offer our No Worries Protection Plan, outlined below. Should you not purchase the No Worries Protection Plan, you will be required to pay a damage deposit of no less than $300.00 per reservation.
No Worries Protection Plan
Under this plan, you will not be held responsible to pay for accidental loss or damage to the rental property resulting from yourself or others in your party up to $2,000. Please report all damages that you notice upon check-in to avoid possible loss of the No Worries Protection. If any damage should occur during your stay, notify our office immediately. Purchasing the "No Worries Plan does not relieve your responsibilities as a tenant. You will be held responsibile for obvious acts of neglect and any malicious damage and/or theft. Also, in the event check-out procedures are not followed, you may be billed. We inspect every home after each party's departure. If damage is reported after your stay, you may be billed. Please note that in some specials cases the No Worries Plan may not be offered as some homes will require the traditional Damage Deposit. This will be collected and administered as permitted under the NC Tenant Damage Deposit Act. Damage Deposits will be returned within 45 days of your departure.
Messages, Mail & PhoneIf you receive mail or messages, we will hold it at the office for you to pick up. ONLY EMERGENCY MESSAGES WILL BE DELIVERED. We will be happy to take messages at 910-579-9000, but no messages can be taken on our toll-free reservation line. Most homes are equipped with a telephone. When making a long distance call, use your credit card or call collect. Any phone charges incurred during your stay will result in your being charged that amount plus a $20.00 service fee.
In the majority of our homes absolutely no pets of any kind are allowed. Bringing pets into homes that are not designated pet friendly will result in immediate eviction. We have a limited number of pet friendly homes, please search for pet friendly homes when you are interested in bringing your pet.
Our homes are available to persons 25 years of age, married couples or families. No sororities, fraternities or graduation groups are permitted. Failure to abide by this regulation will result in eviction without refunds of any nature.
Repairs, Bad Weather & Refunds
Sunset Vacations will make every effort to make this your most enjoyable vacation ever. Refunds can not be made due to inclement weather or mechanical failure of equipment. Any necessary repairs will be made as soon as possible. Remember, the earlier you report a problem, the earlier we can make it disappear. In the event of a hurricane watch, no refunds will be given. Only when a MANDATORY evacuation by Brunswick County Officials is issued will any consideration be given for refunds to those who purchased travel protection.
Is provided by the owner and included in the majority of our rental homes. In the event your reservation does not include the departure maid service and you elect to clean the unit yourself and it is left in an unacceptable condition, your damage deposit will be used for any and all recovery. DAILY CLEANING SERVICE is not provided.
